23-24 TRIO Student Support Services - Classic Application
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) has two federally-funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs, SSS-Classic and SSS-STEM. Both programs are designed to serve and assist first-generation college students, students with limited income, and students with disabilities with college persistence and graduation. The programs provide students with resources and services such as academic and personal coaching, peer tutoring, peer coaching, financial literacy education, cultural activities, a computer lab, printing, and workshops.Â

Eligibility Requirements
You must be an admitted student into Florida Gulf Coast University before completing an application for consideration into Student Support Services.
In accordance with federal regulations, applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
1) Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident AND
2) Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Florida Gulf Coast University AND
3) Demonstrate a strong need for academic support AND
4) Meet one or more of the following:
a) Be a first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian has a 4-year degree)
b) Have a documented disability
c) Meet income guidelines as set by the Federal Government

Selection Process
Only COMPLETE applications from eligible students will be reviewed. After the initial screening, eligible applicants will be notified via Eagle E-mail regarding whether or not they have been invited to schedule a personal interview. During the interview, students will meet with SSS staff to discuss program requirements and student needs; after which the student can decide if they still want to join the program and staff will determine final acceptance. Be sure to check your Eagle E-mail regularly.
Both TRIO SSS programs can only serve a limited number of students. Priority will be given to complete applications of eligible applicants who demonstrate the greatest need for support and the greatest desire to be active and engaged in the program.Â

SOAR Summer Bridge Program
This FREE program will take place from July 25th - July 28th 2023 and includes three overnight stays at FGCU. The program will not only familiarize you with the college environment, but you will learn valuable skills and information that will aid you in your personal and academic success.

- Dependent student: a student whose parent/legal guardian still claim them on their taxes. If you use your parent/legal guardian's taxes to complete the FAFSA, you are a dependent student.
